One of my best friends has quite a bit of spare land around her and is a big lover of animals. She has 2 dogs a horse some chickens and a turkey!
Yes, A turkey - now I can understand all the others - fresh eggs from the chickens, pleasure in riding the horse and taking the dogs for a walk and abit of love returned as after all they are mans best friend - but a Turkey for heavens sake.
Actually, there’s a point here I’ve not seen it for a while I wonder if it was Christmas dinner last year?

I’ve never really understood the concept of owning a fish - specially one which is on it’s own and swims around in a bowl all day.
Now, the big tanks which are built into a wall - something like you’d see in a James Bond film, look really cool, but you need a massive house to acheive the right impact from this idea
Although saying all that my cousin won a fish at tthe fairground and put it with some other fish in his outdoor pond and it’s true what they say - it grew to over 5 times its original size. It’s a shame he forgot to put the net back down after cleaning them out and the local herin swooped down and gobbled them up!

My friend and neighbour owns a rabbit and he is massive and cuddly and has long floppy ears - I have no idea which breed he is though.
I did have the pleasure of feeding him whilst she went away on holiday and although he was a bit nervous about someone new opening his cage - when he realised it was food coming his way he soon got used to me.
I’m pleased to say too that he does get the run of the garden regularly so he gets a bit of exercise and freedom rather than being couped up in a cage all day.

My son absolutely adores animals and if I were to arrive home one night with a small puppy or kitten in my arms he would be over the moon.
However, we only live in a 2 bedroom house and I’m out a work full time so the poor thing would be at home alone for the majority of the time.
A dog is out of the question - my son, as much as he’d give a puppy lots of love and attention - picking up after it would definately not happen!
A cat maybe? My experience with cats isn’t great - the time my parents cat bit my toe and made it bleed is still etched in my mind. However, I do think that having the resposnibility of looking after a cat would benefit my son a great deal. This is something I’m going to have to think about though before I go rushing into it!
