Refereeing a Cat Fight
If you have more than one cat you will at some point get to witness the ferocity and violence of a cat fight! In a multi-cat household you’ll have one cat that usually chooses to take on the alpha cat role. This cat will always be the one that wants to be fed first and will demand the most attention. However on the day where the other cats muster up the courage to knock him off his lofty alpha position the fur will really fly!
It is not advisable to get in between two scrapping cats. They will be completely transfixed on each other and well into the red zone. Due to the adrenaline pumping thety will be completely oblivious to you and if you do intervene you are likely to get injured from a nasty scratch or bite. The best thing you can do is to manoeuvre one cat into another room using a long handled brush.
Once you’ve split them up leave the cat to regain his composure alone in a quiet room. After a while take some water in along with food and a litter tray. Don’t look at the cat. You’ll need to leave them for a few hours. Keep checking on him until you notice him cleaning himself or eating.
